This is kind of a self-portrait, but it's got a lot of other stuff in it, too. I had this Old English Sheep Dog, and I called him Rain Cloud because he could never see anything - his hair was always in his eyes. I shortened that to 'RC', and I used to have a lot of fun with him down at the Palace in the old days. There was this whole bunch of artists and locals who hung out there, and we all had our own barstools. Everybody knew it, so no one would take your spot, and if you walked in and a stool was empty, you knew who was missing. So we'd be sitting at the bar and RC would be on the floor alongside my stool, and a couple stools over would be R.C. Gorman. And I'd tease him and say stuff like, Sit, RC! Stay, RC! Down, RC!' When I did the bronze, I put the Navajo sign for rain cloud on it, too, in honor of R.C. Gorman, and because I've always thought it was a beautiful design. I love the primary colors, and the fact that it represents life and growth and potential. — GIB SINGLETON
